Tape-Ease is the brainchild of Michael Rafter. As a landscaper, he became frustrated with the inadequacies of the standard measure, and began using duct tape to hold the blade tip to the irrigation pipe he was installing.
That’s when he had the brilliant idea – a versatile assistant that would allow him to work more quickly and effectively, without having to invest in hiring someone.
Michael made prototypes for two attachments – a multi-purpose rubber-grip, and a pipe-grip for plumbers and landscapers like himself. We immediately saw the potential, realizing that these tools solved a problem everybody has.
We’ve received tremendous positive response and numerous awards, including being chosen among the top 10 most innovative products at the 2012 International Hardware Show. The DIY Network also included Tape-Ease on the TV show “I Want That,” featuring the top 40 most unique inventions at the 2012 International Builders Show.
In April, 2013, Dawn Whitmer joined the company as V.P. of Sales and Marketing, which is resulting in partnerships with distributors such as Blish-Mize, ACE Hardware, Orgill, Emery-Waterhouse and The Home Depot.
In 2011, Lisa and Linda Johnson became majority partners of the company and in July, 2013, Tape-Ease® became Women-Owned Certified. We enjoy giving back to our communities and have donated our product to Rebuilding Together New Orleans, and Habitat for Humanity’sWomen-Build Program.
In the near future, Tape-Ease will be building on this family of indispensable attachments for both professionals in the field and the do-it-yourselfer at home.
